Hi
I have been given this as a Christmas present - having looked at it on the internet to see if it would work with my camera have seen lots of mention of "frying" "voltages" ... it's all gobblydegook to me and frankly a quite scary.
I am a very basic user of a Nikon D40 (with no money to...
Hi Tracey - I bought the D40 when I started because of financial constraints and have taken some good pics (to me) - I use two lenses - the kit one that came with the body and I bought a second-hand zoom (Sigma DG 70-300mm).
I'm still a bit of a snapper rather than a serious photographer but...
Having lost the petal hoods for both my lenses and am thinking of buying replacements. I notice there are rubber hoods.
Are there specific uses for each? What are the pros and cons of having either?
And if anyone's got tips for not losing them and caps I'd be very grateful :lol...
This was the best photo I could find but also it appears from reading the manual, I can only use manual mode and the settings are limited too.
This is what the manual says:
"The non-CPU lenses listed below may be used but only when the camera is in mode M. Selecting another mode...
Thank you all so much for you advice.
Unfortunately I don't think the D40 is advanced as some of you are suggesting - can't see where to add any CPU data but will check the manual and even putting it on f/22, it doesn't change things.
The only way I can see a difference in...
Hi - please help as I'm not sure how best to go about using a lens I have been given.
I have a Nikon D40 and I have been given a Nikon 50mm 1:18.
When I put it on any other setting than manual it doesn't recognise that a lens is attached. When I look through the view finder on any setting...
Not really as my skills aren't good enough for high end camera/lenses - maybe a fast prime to help me with taking pics of my mates who play music in pubs - but not sure I would get anything that would win comps even if I could afford one.
I don't really know what the perfect picture is but I've had a couple that I was very pleasantly surprised by - both taken more by accident that design - probably the pro's would think they were rubbish but I like them and that's what matters
Definitely an enthusiastic amateur - never ever want to do it for a living, far too stressful (having done a couple of small weddings for friends and a few other events for work) and I hate post processing with a passion!
Oh thank you so much - I have just recorded a simple action and assigned it to a key which does what I want to do for the moment, I will look into the teardrop later - really appreciate your help.
Sincere apologies if this has been asked many time before - have looked around and couldn't seen anything but please direct me to any former post/thread.
I use Photoshop CS3 in a very basic way mainly using auto functions. I add my signature as text - nothing fancy - but I have to do it to...
