You can get a camera connection kit which allows you to directly import your photos from a camera (via USB or SD card) rather than using a computer and iTunes.
I'm using one right now to browse the forum. I love mine, it's made my laptop pretty much useless.
There is a Photoshop app, I haven't tried it with a raw file but I've seen a video on YouTube of someone editing raw files.
You can get a camera connection kit which gives you a USB port and SD...
I was waiting to see what this was like and the price etc. before upgrading.
Think I'd just get a D90 now or if I was going to stretch to £1k I'd probably buy a D300s.
For the moment I'll just keep my current camera.
I got my D3000, 18-55mm and 55-200mm in it no problem. As well as all the charges, cables etc.
I'm going to be getting rid of mine soonish as I've bought a Bigma which has no chance of fitting in there.
It's not designed for it as in there's no vertical shutter contact. To fit one of the third party ones you have to remove the battery flap and slide the grip in and screw on using the tripod mount as maninsuitcase says.
It is IR. You have to set your camera to remote shutter then the grip...
The D3000 isn't designed to have a battery grip attached. You can still buy 3rd party ones for it though.
Usually battery grips have a shutter button on them for portrait pictures. The D3000 ones do have this but they work by Infrared so you have to change the camera to remote shutter mode...
Did he give you a lens with it?
Personally I'd use it the same as you use your bridge. So if you know about aperture/shutter speeds/ISO then have a play with those settings. If not then leave them on auto, you should still be able to get some good photos.
You might get bitten by the DSLR...
According to Nikon Rumours (so don't take it as fact, especially since they don't have any sources) the new D90 will be called the D7000. So if you guessed that earlier in the thread.
