Brilliant lens, really is. I seem to remember there were some issues similar to the ones that the 24-70 suffered with the stuff barrel in the middle of the range. The rubbers were also susceptible to oxidizing and turning grey but they could be bought back to life with some careful cleaning...

Chuck it in the boot of the car, ride in the last few hundred meters, eat like a champ when you arrive. :D Our place offers no incentive to cycle to work other than running the C2W voucher scheme twice a year.
