    Time lapse help.

I used to have a 50D like you. My best timelapse results were achieved using tethered shooting from my laptop using USB. There are various programs out there which can automate the shooting for you, I bought one called DSLR Remote Pro which seems to work okay. I then made the video using...

Best time lapse software for PC?

I find the combination of DSLR Remote Pro (to shoot) and QuickTime Pro (to process into video) works well.

Tethered Shooting 40D in the studio

I have a 12 m USB extension lead that I bought in Maplin. Works fine for tethered shooting, I use it for timelapse shooting using my laptop.

    Why resolution matters

Good resolution is also handy in my case, with a physical disability, the framing and composition is not always optimal. By using a slightly wider lens, then there are lots of options to crop during postprocessing to get the desired image I was imagining at the time of taking it.

    Canon & Nikon name change?

Got me as well :) Very clever:clap:

    First DSLR suggestions?

My other half went down the new Canon 550D route and she has been producing some great pictures with the standard kit lens and she is a beginner like myself. I on the other hand bought a second-hand Canon 50D for around £100 less in total. I think on balance I prefer the more robust 50D and it...

    disability and photography

I have muscular dystrophy, the only movement I have is in my fingertips and I use an electric wheelchair. I like a challenge, and I have recently taken up photography. I have found that by using the larger size Gorillapod I can effectively mount the camera by wrapping the tripods flexible...

Wide angle lens with polarising filter

It was made at the end of a really long day :cuckoo: I think what I was trying to say was, does the potential sky colour banding resulting from the use of a polarising filter with a wide-angle get worse in HDR processing. I should just go and try it..

Wide angle lens with polarising filter

And what about HDR, does this exacerbate the polarised inconsistencies?

Point me in the direction of the real basics

Welcome. Even with my limited experience, I have really seen how a tripod can help.

    Stunning timelapse

I think the transition into night, or from night into day gives some of the best timelapse. The squirrel was unexpected, as was all the crows/rooks going to roost at dusk. I think it was around 700 shots. Clearly it is not for those who like low shutter counts with their cameras. It certainly...

    Stunning timelapse

it is a bit jerky, the original wasn't, I think that must be the video conversion I used. http://www.vimeo.com/19442173 I should have left it going into dusk and darkness to see what happened. Can't remember what mode I had the camera in.
