    Donna Nook - 21st/22nd November

Why? Again, why? I have followed this thread with interest as an impartial observer. I was not at nor have been to Donna Nook and I have never photographed seals so I cannot comment on what is or is not right but those two comments are pretty low in my opinion. Having read the story of...

    Macro Photography

I bought my Sigma 105 macro second hand, it was in mint condition and nearly half the price of a new one. It's great!

Sigma 10-20mm + screw in filters

I would add the cpl only when needed.

Sigma 10-20mm + screw in filters

I have a uv filter on mine. As the hood is very shallow I worry that I will bang the front element against stuff when it's hanging on my shoulder so the filter always stays on. Never had any vignetting problems with it.

    Extension Tubes

Did you look at the examples I posted for the cheapo set? I'll post it here again: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=475517 Please do have a look and see what can be achieved with just a little effort. I cannot be happier with the results from these tubes for the price. You...

    Extension Tubes

I agree with Mitesh. I have the cheapo ebay tubes and use them with an old Pentax 50mm 1.7 lens that has a manual aperture ring. There's a small learning curve to using this approach but you get used to it after a while. It looks like this...

Great lens. You'll have a ball with it! :D

    My lens stopped auto focusing?!?!

Those were all my first thoughts, especially the last bit - the af/mf selector switch on the lens. Which way is it pointing?

    Which cards do you use?

You can only use XD cards in your Fuji. SD and CF cards simply will not fit in the slot. You can however buy cards with bigger capacities than 512MB. Take a look at www.mymemory.co.uk or www.7dayshop.com for cheap prices on memory.

Screw In Skylight Filters as protection!

I use them on my lenses. The benefits outweigh the minuses. It protects my front element from scratches and dirt. I'm happier cleaning the filter than the lens. You'll not have problems with vignetting really, I use a filter on my 10-20 lens without any problems. You must get a decent quality...

    Which cards do you use?

Size and shape are the main differences. What camera do you have? Also, if you read the manual it should tell you what cards yours takes.

Good new all-round lens, thats not a fortune!

I have the Sigma 24-70 and it is a real gem. It is one of my main wedding lenses. With the announcement of a new model with HSM you may find a real bargain of a deal for the older model.
