As it is on your hard drive, try FILERECOVERY. It does show file names of recoverable files.

I even like to go even further... 3-2-1 3 forms of backup, on at least 2 different types of media, and at least 1 of them offsite (such as the cloud).

SanDisk RescuePRO or PHOTORECOVERY work well. Not free, but do have an evaluation/trial mode so you can see if the files are indeed recoverable.

Sounds like some of those may have been overwritten.

If you used RescuePRO's recovery function, it is read-only, so it is not going to remove any data from the card, but it will recover what is recoverable. RescuePRO does have a wipe function, so it can get rid of the data, if you wish it to.
