    A chance to goto africa...

Apologies if this is a little too enthusiastic but here goes! We went to Tanzania in 2006 for special birthday (wife). Obviously I cannot comment on your personal arrangements but I would go for it. The national parks we visited were, Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorogoro Crater and Tarangire all in...

    Britain's most photogenic castles?

Not mentioned here but 2 castles relatively local to me are Warwick and Kenilworth. I especially love photographing Kenilworth against a dark/cloudy sky with a low winter sun making the sandstone almost illuminescent. But I think each has their favourite, ar'nt we spoilt for castles? Mark

    Obesessed or mad? lol

I learnt a long time ago that in this slightly less than perfect world we live in that if you look for problems you will undoubtedly find some! (I have to tell myself this from time to time as I forget - I am slightly less than perfect you see) Mark

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Well without doing a thing my problem has fixed itself. After my last post I basically did not review any images on my laptop loaded with Vista - until just now, I stuck in a previously unreadedable DVD with only Raw images on it and hey presto PS elements opened the images! But...

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Thanks PsiFox and tdodd, I am uploaded the codec file as suggested, although a later version it did not make any difference. I will persevere with looking at the cd/dvd drivers and check their currency - failing that I will ask a favour of our IT dept at work, even though that means I may...

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Thanks again TT, and no offence taken I am not the most confident in the IT world. Unfortunately the hidden file fix has not worked - I am beginning to think I may need to wait for Microsoft to respond! I am not holding my breath! Thanks to everyone that has helped. Mark

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Thanks Turbotoes - this is a difficult one but I think I will investigate Freesters' suggestion that Vista might be hiding the files incorrectly as system files. It would be interesting to know if anyone else is having this problem i.e. Nikon camera shooting in Raw saving to cd/dvd on a Vista...

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions. I can read the raw images from my camera with Vista so does that mean the codec has been installed?

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

I am sorry about this I have not explained it clearly, the problem is not with the XP loaded laptop - it burns cds/dvds and reads them ok, including the ones burned on the Vista loaded laptop. The problem is with the Vista laptop - it reads RAW images from my camera but not from a cd or dvd...

Vista - problems reading RAW images from cd/dvd

Hello - I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this problem. I have 2 laptops, one with Windows XP and a recently acquired one with Vista. I generally shoot in Raw and burn a cd/dvd to archive. If I try to view the raw images on the Vista loaded laptop from cd/dvd it cannot find the files -...

    westmidlands and staffordshire.

Castles at Warwick and ,my favourite, Kenilworth. Canals, either urban or country, Grand Union south of Solihull runs through some nice countryside, not to mention rivers of course. Some excellent reflection shots to be had from the mirrored buildings in Birmingham. That should keep you busy for...
