    I want a new compact

Now, just to throw this into the mix. After raving aboutthe RX100, I have just read DXO's comparisson between the RX100 mkiv and the Canon G7X. The canon scores HIGHER !!!! and can be haf for just over HALF the price (£329). Saving £300 and as good. It has a longer lens up to 100mm (equiv)...

    I want a new compact

If you want a pocket camera that takes great images and size is a big contributing factor for you, I think you have found the camera - the Sony RX100 (mkIII or MKIV) If you are interested in a CSC or M4/3 system, thats a different question altogether. Im after something to fit in my pocket...

    I want a new compact

If I can jump in on this thread. The RX100 IV from the reviews is a cracking camera. Yes the price is high - can be had for £600 currently, but that is still a lot of cash. Fro Knows Photo has just done a review on teh MKIV and rates it pretty highly. It the one I am considering. I have a 5D...

    Which Canon 35mm - SH 35 f1.4L or new Sigma 35 f1.4 Art?

I was in a similar predicament as you are, a choice between the Sigma or the Canon L. I even considered the Canon f2 as a more reasonable lens. I decided that the f2 was out of the question, I would always be wishing I had waited and gone for the f1.4. I am a firm believer that if your going to...

    New York, $1000 and B&HPhoto

The 70-200 f2.8 L IS, is on my list to get, but not at this time, and I only really want the L IS version. I would always be wishing I had bought that lens rather than anything else.

    New York, $1000 and B&HPhoto

Good point about the flash and tripod. They don't bring much but add a few features to the table. I have access to the Canon 100mm f2.8 when ever I want. So not worth me investing in, unless I lost that access.

    New York, $1000 and B&HPhoto

I head to New York next Saturday. I have $1000 to spend on camera gear, and basically I'm after what would YOU spend it on. I shoot anything and everything, and have a 5D MKIII, Canon 25-105mm f4, Canon 35mm f1.4, Sigma 50mm f1.4, 580EX Speedlite, and a Carbon Fiber tripod form somewhere in...

    Lens for New York....

I live in the town where Lee Filters makes the filters, and have a friend who works there. Im hoping she can get me a good deal on one. As for the f2 version, might have to have a play with one in B&H when over there if i cant secure a good price on a f1.4 version. Thanks for all of the advice...

    Lens for New York....

I have looked at the 35mm f2 IS, but would I always wish I had gone for the L lens?? From the SLRlounge review, there is a difference but, the extra stops of the 1.4 is soo nice.

    Lens for New York....

5D MKIII, 24-105 f4 and then the 35mm, the 70-200, I'm not too sure on, short of people watching from a distance, Manhattan is very built up, I'm not sure you will get the use as much. But then it depends what you like shooting.

    Lens for New York....

Have tried the Sigma 35mm, it's ok but the actual feel of the lens I didn't like. I had read all of the reviews and on paper it looks great. But I just couldn't get on with it.

    Lens for New York....

Thanks for the advice Jetpack, it really is looking like the 35mm is the best bet - now to find a second hand one that will be there in 3 weeks time....

    Lens for New York....

Selling the canon gear is not an option. I need it for work.

    Lens for New York....

Have been really careful with money and hence managed to get some nice gear, like a retina MBP and 128GB iPad air as well as the camera gear. I'm of the opinion, that you buy the best for what you need, quality lasts. And I would rather wait longer and get something better than buy something...
