Mehal

I am a retired civil servant, my interests have been photography since the age of 12, and since the late seventies historical research concentrating on Leicestershire and Rutland and the Great War, I have a website that is hosted by the Leicestershire County Council War Memorial Project Team, and also have my database hosted on FindmyPast, I have published a five volume work relating to Leicestershire and Rutland and the Great War, and continue my research since retired on an almost daily basis.
My photography has been a passion since my first camera a Bencini Koroll II given to me as a gift by my Italian cousin in 1960, since when I have progressed through Zeiss Ikons and eventually to my first and only Leica, an M6, my journey into SLR cameras began with a Canon F1, but when the company abandoned the FD lenses I felt betrayed and moved to Nikon, first an F2, F3, F5, then on to my first digital the D3, then to the D5, my move to mirrorless was the Z9, and recently I have picked up a ZF. Not sure that I will update the two latter cameras as given my age I think I have reached the end of the line, and having parted with all my old Nikon glass together with camera bodies I now retain only two Nikon lenses, I still retain my Leica, it remains my faithful companion, and is worth far more to me than anyone would offer me for it, but then it is part of my film heritage and with it my attachment to the past. I still run a roll of film through it occasionally just for old times' sake!
