Would you take your kit on holiday without a safe?

We've got hard cases and a similar thought had occurred to me. Sounds like the right answer, and I've now confirmed it'll be covered by our home insurance policy. Because it's nice to have proper photos of the kids and have you tried getting them to pose for a portrait at home? Because travel...

Would you take your kit on holiday without a safe?

Thanks all - appreciate the perspectives. Dry bag - isn't going to take an SLR and two lenses (bare minimum kit). Hard case - is only safe if it's securely tethered to something. A soft-case isn't secure even if tethered as all it'd take to open it is a penknife or stanley blade (actually, a...

Would you take your kit on holiday without a safe?

This is the dilemma facing me later this month. Everything is booked and paid for, and now it turns out the aparthotel's "safety box" is actually a slimline lockbox (think old-style bank ones) behind reception, not a proper safe. I'm sure I can fit a few memory cards and lens filters in there...

How to mount photos for new kitchen

Just putting the finishing touches to a new kitchen in an extension, and want to finish it off properly with some photos (mainly landscapes) from our travels. What I'm torn over is how to mount them...wanted to ask the collective expertise on here for advice. Two photos below of the space...

DxO PhotoLab 6, Lightroom Classic subscription, or DxO PureRaw 3 exporting into an old Lightroom version?

Mike / Toni - thanks...I'd just discovered that myself shortly before you posted (clearly not the first to make that mistake as it came up in a google search!) :ROFLMAO::headbang: I'll have a play with them in LrC tomorrow, see how that works. Toni - very good point. I've found myself...

DxO PhotoLab 6, Lightroom Classic subscription, or DxO PureRaw 3 exporting into an old Lightroom version?

I agree something is going wrong - the newly-downloaded DNG converter can't find the CR3 files. My comment about DNGs being modified in the file was based on an article I read...if that's incorrect then that's a start. ...but I still need to get the bloody converter to work, somehow...

DxO PhotoLab 6, Lightroom Classic subscription, or DxO PureRaw 3 exporting into an old Lightroom version?

Thanks all. Mike - I have tried the DNG converter (and for some reason my download of it still won't find the CR3 files even after I've manually imported them onto my HDD), but I'm not 100% sold on effectively only being able to process each RAW file once - there's been the odd favourite shot...

DxO PhotoLab 6, Lightroom Classic subscription, or DxO PureRaw 3 exporting into an old Lightroom version?

New on here, been an amateur photographer for close to 20 years. Looking for some advice from the collective wisdom on here, as I've realised I'm rather out-of-date on the software side. I've been soldiering on with an old version of Lr for several years (Lr 5.6, if you can believe that)...
