    Macro Lens Advice - Canon

The 100mm f/2.8L IS is a fantastic macro lens and doubles up as a great portrait lens too:thumbs:

    Just ordered Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L mk2

You'll love it, probably my favourite lens, its a tie between this and the 100mm L macro! Have fun with it:)

    my new 70-200

I can usually get sharp shots at 1/30th at 200mm, it does seem heavy at first but its surprising how quickly you get used to it. I hold mine similar to EdR, with the tripod mount on supporting that in the palm of my left hand. Its a beauty of a lens:)

    IS or non-IS ?

Definitely go for the mark II if your budget stretches that far, best of the bunch. The IS is very good indeed, enabling me to get many sharp images at speeds as low as 1/50th and 1/30th of a second handheld at the 200mm end.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II to replace them all* ?

I'd say go for it, I love my 70-200mm f/2.8 mark ii, I doubt you will miss the 85mm f1.8 if you can handle the weight of course of the mark II, I've never used it with an extender but I understand from researching it myself on the net it works very well with both the 1.4x and 2x. You will...

    Canon 24-105mm advice

I really enjoy using my 24-105mm f/4 L, it makes a great walk about lens especially on full frame. It spends a lot of time on my 5D Mark II, it performs well on my 7d as well although I find the range a bit restricted at the wide end. I've used it for everything from landscapes to still...

Canon 17-40L vs. 17-55 IS dilemma

I agree the 17-55 is the most sensible choice for you, I have the 17-40mm L and use it on my 5D mark II, however at the moment it is attached to my 7D fulfilling "standard zoom" duties which it has been doing very well indeed. However if I didnt have a full frame camera I would have probably...

    Canon 7d

The 7d is a great all-rounder I'm sure you will be very happy with it, the 24-105mm L performs very well on the 7D, but as others have said you may find the 24mm not quite wide enough to use it as your main walk-about lens. I also had the 15-85mm for a short while, it was very sharp, and a...

    Annie Leibovtiz Canon 24-70mm

I think the OP was referring to Medium Format rather than manual focus:) She probably uses both canon and medium format depending on the situation.

    Canon 7d Allrounder?

7d is a great allrounder, I've used it for portraits, landscapes, horse riding action shots and I've been very happy with it indeed:)

    24-105mm L

The 24-105L is a very versatile lens, I use it both on my 7d and 5D mark II, I definitely wouldnt be without it! Its a great general purpose walk about zoom with very nice image quality overall.:)

Canon EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM lens quality?

I really like my 24-105mm f4L I use it mainly on the 5d mark II, I did have the 15-85mm and used it on the 7d, the difference in image quality isn't massive, however the build quality is nicer, the constant F4 aperture comes in handy. I have used the 24-105mm on the 7d and it performs very...

    Macro Lens

If your budget will stretch to it I find the canon 100mm f2.8L fantastic on the 5d mark II as both a macro and portrait lens:)

    50mm f1.4 on cropped body

I use my 50mm f1.4 on both my crop sensor 7d and full frame 5d mark II and I like it on both, yes it gives a different field of view but I seem to soon adjust:)
