    Something around Winsford, Cheshire?

There's an old industrial site pretty close by, can't remember the name of it at the moment though. I've always thought it'd make a good location. Try and look it up, Google should help. Winsford really isn't the Midlands though!

    Remote Shutter Release

I've got a cheap eBay ir one, works fine for casual use. Haven't tested it at any great distance but that's not what I bought it for. It can't do any harm to try one for a £ or 2.

    London marathon 2013

Hi, just wondered if anyone was planning on shooting at the London Marathon today? I'm planning to try and get some photos of a friend who's running and wanted to ask if any one had any tips I should be thinking about, settings, perspectives etc? Anything to make them more interesting would be...

Manfrotto Agile 1 sling £24.97 Currys

Great spot. I think I'll go for that one. I've been looking for a sling type bag for a while. There are better pictures of it on amazon if anyone is interested.

Fancy hacking your Nikon DSLR Firmware

I don't think I'd trust something that the developer hasn't tested. Why would he not test it to see if it records past 30 mins?

    Should i do it? sigma 18-50 2.8

+1 an f2.8 lens is well worth the extra. I'm glad I upgraded from a variable one. If you can squeeze a bit more cash out then maybe you could go for a used tamron or sigma, you might not get os for that budget but its on essential on that focal length.

    Should i do it? sigma 18-50 2.8

I've got the one without hsm or os, I use it on my d7000 without an issue. If you can get it for a decent price I wouldn't hesitate.

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

You should also remember that it's not always the camera busy that it at fault when it comes to focus problems. My d7000 needs no focus compensation dialing in when using my 50mm f1.8, however it needed - 18 for my 18-50 sigma.

Advice on a lens to buy please

What is your budget? From the ones you listed I'd suggest the tamron, an f2.8 lens will give you a nice blur while the 17-50 also gives a practical focal range. However I'd also suggest you consider the sigma 18-50 f.2.8, I have one and it's very good, nice and sharp too.

    Magbooks at Poundland

I've seen those in wh Smith, I had a flick through and they looked ok, even better for £1! I'll have to find a poundland and week if I can get some. Thanks for the heads up

Yep I went for that one, it's a great lens. Excellent built quality, it's really sharp and focuses well. If you can find a good price then go for it!

    Nikon Remote - £1.62 (ML-L3)

It'll definitely do the job. I got a 3rd party remote for my d7000 and it works a treat.

    Nikon Remote - £1.62 (ML-L3)

Decent price but, as it's not genuine Nikon, it's not that special. they can be found at this price or lower at many places online.
