Agree with Terry about using RAW. Most of the photos probably just need a bit of PP'ing (post processing). Flat days can be made to sparkle (a bit) with added contrast etc. Keep working at it, it will you some time to master it (if ever). Post here for constructive criticism...

My take is that it would be inappropriate for anyone to take close ups of an "unknown" child. I would also be slightly offended, or certainly suspicious of anyone else's motives if it happened to be my 7 year old daughter (40 years too late..) I would assume if its a group of photographers...

Yes to operate the flash, you need the noisy shutter.....:-)

I had a family of rats a few years ago, evident because they were running around the garden in broad daylight. A humane trap caught the youngsters, and subsequently drowned, but the adults were to canny to be caught. Alas I resorted to poison poured down their underground tunnels. Undoubtedly...

I use a Bushnell something. And power with rechargeable batteries. They last several weeks...………..

I had 17 goldfinches in the garden yesterday. Also nuthatches, chaffinches, 60+sparrows and a few dunnocks. Robin and nuthatch, and "merde", a couple of sparrow hawks... I do feed them well though. My blue tit nestlings are two down, but still feed all day. Usual coal tit and Great Tit...

Yep I have signed up. The presence of Flickr works for me, and I store what I consider my better photos there, All at low Resolution tho'. It just keeps the photos I value in one place, and accessible from anywhere. Also I want to keep my friends that I have made there. How many will stay...
