Non UK I'm off Vegas...Any tips?

Thanks! Yes water is definitely a must as it'll be close to 40 degrees! I'll be taking my manfrotto travel tripod with me but it can be a bit restrictive in the typical tourist area's, for example the Neon Museum seems like a great idea but you can't take more than one lens or a tripod unless...

Non UK I'm off Vegas...Any tips?

So, as the post title says I'm off to Las Vegas, next week to be precise and I'm looking to plan some cool photography shots that really captures this amazing place. I've been a couple of times before, taken a few snaps and now going back armed with a different set of tools (Fuji X-T1, 18-135mm...

    Storage

You could also get a small Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, pop in a couple of hard drives and connect it to your home router. You can then access the images from any computer on your network. Most with 2+ bays already come with RAID 1 built in which will fill your 2nd drive with a copy...

    Nikon Nifty Fifty's

I have the 35mm 1.8G for my D3100 and it's a fantastic lens for close up work, very sharp and shallow DoF with a nice bokeh effect. I chose the 35mm rather than the 50mm because of the DX format crop factor makes it effectively a 50mm equivalent to full frame. In my opinion you'd want the auto...

Nikon 55-200 mm VR or Nikon AF-S DX 18-135mm ??Comments please

Good spot Al, and the 18-105mm does come with VR which saves many of my shots from my shaky pensioner hands lol

Nikon 55-200 mm VR or Nikon AF-S DX 18-135mm ??Comments please

I have the 55-200mm and more recently an 18-105mm. I have to admit I've hardly used the 55-200mm as I tend to photograph people and objects fairly close up. Quality-wise I've not found any problems with the longer lens but my suggestion would be go for 18-135mm! :)

    First Stop, Buying a DSLR

I'm pretty new and was in the same situation a few months ago. My photographer friend recommended a Nikon D3100 (which I bought new costing just over £350) and comes with a kit 18-55mm lens. Like the guys suggested I went to a camera shop and handled it first, felt good so I took the plunge...

    1st dslr advice

I've just started a few months ago and was recommended the Nikon D3100. It's an entry level dslr but the results are fantastic, I'm well chuffed! It's light but very sturdy and great for learning in my opinion.certainly worth a look.

Also, I read somewhere decent tripods don't come with the head ball thing (sorry can't remember what it's called!) I'd this true?

    Tripod for Nikon D3100?

Hi all, Can anyone recommend a decent tripod? It'll be my first one so I'm hoping for something sturdy but lightweight. It would help if it's quite cheap too! Thanks Marc
