I'm very tempted by the 600d. All the cameras I am looking at take good pictures but the 600d seems to video very well and from what I have seen allows most control compared to similar spec/price models.
In the specific example that I tried to shoot with my cheap camera the squirrel was eating a nut, so sat still. The other limitations of my cheap camera stopped me getting a good picture (and my technique!) but the IS on my cheap camera did help me get something. To be honest I'm not sure that...
EDIT- what I put made no sense to start with!
Surely IS is a help in lots of situations. If not why has it become so popular?
I want it to give more flexibility, if it means I can use a slightly wider range of settings for any given shot surely that will help me get the picture I want?
I want to take pictures of squirrels up trees in dense woodland (dark), possibly on the other side of a wide river (a long way). Hope that's cleared it up! ;)

Are there usually any compatibility issues with new 3rd party lenses and new DSLR cameras? I've been reading lots about the Sony SLT cameras in particular and I'm pretty confused now. Some reviews have mentioned that there are issues with auto-focus with 3rd party lenses. Is this sort of thing...
Does anyone have this camera and know if it includes the digital level gauge found in the other SLT models? I've seen a couple of reviews that list it as a missing feature compared to the earlier models but then the official specification mentions it. Anyone used one and do you know if it is...
Thanks for the replies. After reading my post back I don't think I was very clear but most people seem to have guessed what I meant. I take quite a lot of photos while out walking and it is that type of situation were I think IS could be very useful. I won't always want/be able to use a monopod...
I'm looking for my first SLR and ideally I was hoping for either a Nikon or Canon as obviously they are seen as the 2 best brands and I wouldn't have to worry about starting again with another brand later down the line.
One of the things I have noticed is they both use lens based...
Hi All. I'm very interested in learning more about photography and taking the step-up to a proper camera rather than the cheap compacts I have used so far. After plenty of searching I've decided this looks like the best photography forum with plenty of scope for learning and discussion. Now I...
