    Astro in / around Hereford

Hi, I'm going up to just outside Hereford for the weekend with friends and noticed on the darksitefinder website that light pollution is lower than where I live and then also it's about an hour away from the edge of the real dark areas in Wales. Has anyone done any astro around here, would I...

    Photos in the public domain

So essentially, what we are saying is that it's a bit like a burglar, if they want to steal your photos they will but the harder you make it the less you worry...and if / when it does eventually happen you just need to be able to somehow pick up the pieces.

So do you use a watermark?

    Photos in the public domain

Thanks guys, interesting responses. I suppose my use of public domain shows how easy it is to get mixed up with terminology, how important it is to know your legal rights and how easy it is to get lost in all the jargon / legalise...

    Photos in the public domain

Hi, I know this overall topic has been done many, many times here but I'm coming at this from a slightly different angle. Background: I want to put my photos online, some will be private and so shared only with family and friends, (pics of daughter, birthdays etc), and then there will be some...

    Attention span of a...

Why don't you have one website which is about 'you', effectively your portfolio. That way you can put your best shots on their from all the different busses you get on and off and it will actually more than likely be beneficial to have a wide range of styles and skills. That way if someone is...

Am I too late? Milky Way

Almost too late, but don't forget that while we lose the Milky Way we gain the Orion constellation which is a lovely alternative. No Milky Way but good to practice on during Winter while you wait for the Milky Way to arrive again. Agree on Stellarium - also Sky Guide and PhotoPills are good on...

    Camera choices.. 50D, 60D or 7D

I may be selling my 50D if I decide to upgrade. If I do I'll let you know, very low shutter count etc.

    Lens in your standard kit.

Hi guys and gals. I recently posted asking about your go to walkabout lens for a crop camera and got some great responses and I need some more help... I've kind of narrowed it down to a 15-85 / 17-55 / 24-105 and possibly a 24-70 if one came up but the more I research and think about it the...

    New walkabout Lens

Hi, Thanks for the inputs, good food for thought. I've been through a selection of my photos and checked the exif files and I seem to be generally using anything between 30mm and 85mm with around the 50mm being the mean. Surprised myself really as I'd have expected a much lower range and...

    New walkabout Lens

Cheers, just been reading the various reviews of the 15-85, 17-85 and 17-55 and the 17-55 comes out top, it's just if I'll be happy with just the 55 length. I might thumb through my pics and see where I take photos. If it's mainly over the 55mm then I might plump for the 15-85, if not I really...

    New walkabout Lens

Cheers guys, interesting answers. While I've been happy with the 17-85 I want something a bit better. It's been a nice lens so far but the draw of a fixed focal length across the range is drawing me, as well as something that will last. I'm happy with my 60D so will be keeping with a crop for...

    New walkabout Lens

Ah, forgot about that one, I'll add it to the OP. That might just be the lens I'm after, kind of a middle ground between range and value. On a crop I'm a little worried that 135 goes out to 216 and then it won't be overly sharp, have you got it on a crop body? How does it fair?

    New walkabout Lens

HI guys and gals, I've got a Canon 60D and have just broken my everyday 17-85mm lens, (it got quickly acquainted with the floor from about 2m away), so I'm in the market for a replacement. I want to upgrade a bit to something that will stay on my camera most of the time and for years to come...
