£300 for some filters... talk to me.

Lee filters are best, costly and usually out of stock! 1. Screw ons are bad for landscape. unless its a C. polariser ;-). get a polariser 2. Squares are better but holder+ filter edge will encroach into FOV with very wide angle lenses. 3. For landscape you'll need (soft imo ) graduated AND...

    Beginner Holiday advice

Did any one say wall socket adaptor? Egypt = sand. Air-blower! I had read somewhere that fixed lenses are better for leaners. this was true for me. i got a nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) before going to corsica and it was the only lens i used. it forced me to move around to get the best composition...

    Two 1.4 converters

two canon 1.4x II won't stack. you can stack a 1.4xII +2.0xII but the 1.4 has to connect to cam. I wonder what sort aberration will be produced from stacking 5 2xII??

Man.... I hate this about the PC based tech (smartphone/tablets/etc.). the FU*KERs trickle-feed the consumer with incremental annual 'improvements'. so your purchase is already obsolete BNIB!! it reminds me of Gillette and their 'technical advancement' from 1 blade to 4 blades stretched over...

    Wedding togs preference.....

me thinks you should ditch the 5D1 and get the 5D2 and the 7D. 5D2 is perfect for weddings - excellent low light performance (i routinely use 3200) and light. the 7D is bkup and for anything else that needs a robust AF, although i find the IQ of the 7D drops off sharply beyond iso800. i...

    Upgrading, 7D or 6D

its really depended on your requirements and the kind of photography you do most. FF is great for landscape, macros, low light, etc. but if your main game is sports and fast moving wildlife, then you want the 7D with its faster AF. keep in mind any movement upward i.e xxxD -> xxD ->xD will...

DIY AUTOMATIC Multiple Card reader for £8.

initially i was going to use '&&' to start the copying in parallel. but realized there was no real advantage since i was writing to a single mechanical disk with on striping but this would be a different story if you had a SSD (?). + this is my 1st real effort at shell programming borne out...
