My own sites are using Gallery2 embedded within Drupal. Mainly because I wanted to do something with my pictures that was more than just a gallery. With Drupal you can have a blog and stacks more info and with Gallery 2 you have a gallery that's easily updated. But it's a steep learning curve...
I had great problesm with Firefox taking ages to load up. If you tsrted it in safe mode (you can do this from start>all progams>Mozilla Firefox/Safe Mode)it tended to start quicker. The problem was conflict with one or more add ons.
