Good suggestion - that was the first things I tried. I also reset everything to factory defaults and then reinstalled Win8 as a clean install. So, I think what I have is everything in default config - and Win8pro persists in killing my Nases.

Tried disabling ipv6 , my MyBook Worlds (both of them) are still killed by Windows 8.
To be honest, I only tried this out once - resurrecting the NASes from the state Win 8 leaves them in takes a couple of hours and I simply don't have the strength to repeat the exercise.

My WD MyBook World NASes are doing exactly the same thing as your iOmega after I migrated to Windows 8. I got fed up quickly since whatever Win 8 did to the NASes prevented all other devices on the network seeing them as well.
I reinstalled Win7 and back came the NASes "out of the box".
