Lee Big Stopper now in a tin!

Just got mine. I notice the foam in the bottom of the tin is in two parts. Probably easier to make like that but would have been better to make it as one piece to prevent filter sliding between the two layers?

    New Monitor advice

Looking to replace my main monitor, a Dell 20" non-wide screen which I'll use in portrait mode as a secondary screen .... I was looking at either 21.5 or 24 inch versions of the same Dell (S2240L/S2440L) monitor - if they both have the same resolution of 1920 x 1080, I guess that means the...

Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM

I'm looking for a W/A zoom for my 40D, what about the Canon 10-22 ? Similar price to the Tokina; everything I'd read about the Canon suggested it was the one to go for until I read a review in the June issue of Digital camera magazine. I'm assuming they were unlucky & received a dodgy copy...

Lee Filters Universal hood and 105mm polarizer

I already use Lee filters but looking at options for a hood - the universal appears the one to go for - Use a 40D with 17-40 but hope to get a 10-22 at some stage soon. Just wondering about the physical size of the Universal hood - I read on the Speedgraphic website that the "Front frame size...

    Lee Adaptor Rings Announcement

Spotted this announcement from Lee Filters USA via Twitter that they are to stop producing standard adaptors in sizes for which the wide adaptor is available: http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=426ca798c5046e6eecfb13449&id=9fd4b2773f Wonder if this applies only to Lee USA or the UK too? A...

    lee filter pouches

And something else I've noticed - if you check the filter in normal lighting inside or outside when it's overcast, they look spotless. View them at a certain angle in very bright sunlight or shine a bright torch at the surface of the darker grad area of the filter & it looks awful - must just...

    lee filter pouches

Yep, I'd agree, even with brand new ones, if you look at them indoors, they look perfect but view them at a certain angle in bright sunlight, there will be some small marks/scratches here & there. I think that's just how resin filters are no matter who makes them ;)

    lee filter pouches

Decided to e-mail Lee for the definitive answer on storing filters (minus the tissue paper) in the original nylon pouches they come in & received the following from the ever helpful Graham Merritt at Lee: "You are quite correct, the pouches are designed to store our filters without scratching...

    lee filter pouches

Although the Big Stopper & ND Pro glass are glass rather than resin so much less prone to scratches than the resin filters I suppose. PS. is the Pro glass ND worth the extra expense over the resin equivalent?

    lee filter pouches

Good questions which even after my response from Lee (see earlier post) I'm still not tooo sure about either. I'd say certainly not a good idea to store filters touching each other withing nothing in between - in theory any dirt/dust between them could casuse scratches. As to the normal...

    Compact Flash Problem

Not sure anything would get corroded that quickly? I once dropped a CF card in a lake and once dried out it was fine again. I'd have though more likely some moisture still left inside is causing the problem. How long has it been since it happened? I've heard about the rice trick before too -...

    lee filter pouches

Just got some Lee gear myself recently; very nice but pricey so need protecting well;) I e-mailed Lee to ask about storing filters in the pouches the filters come in & about the Filter wrap problems and was told: "The tissue is disposable, really just meant for internal handling here, and for...
