I'm glad you said that because i worked in stoke for 2 years and it is an absoloute dump. But i can say hand on heart that it's got the friendliest people there outside of yorkshire.
Anyway, how about Trentham gardens/estate. Lot's of history and very scenic.
If you go away you might be constantly thinking about the great shots you could have taken if you had the new lens.
If you buy the lens you might regret not going away.
How about buy the lens but save really hard for the trip away? At least then when you do go away you've got the best of both...
Thanks for the replies. I'm enjoying reading up on a lot of stuff i thought i knew about when i was 15-17 only to realise i did'nt know a thing!

So I'm doing a lot of reading up and am going to treat myself to a dslr in the next couple of weeks
