Camera = Pervert? It just got more extreme.

The only real relevance to the photographer was because the article indicated that a witness heard the attacker mention something about paedophile. Someone getting 2+2 and ending up with 5 again. With regard to my incident, the police ID'd me, gave me a slip (SA88?? - it was 4yrs ago) noting my...

Camera = Pervert? It just got more extreme.

I think this says more about the Forestry worker than the photographer. Although on a rare trip to my hometown and taking photos of the historic market place, I was approached by two policemen and cautioned with the terrorism act for 'taking photos in a popular and built up residence' or some...

    Great Photography locations in London

Little Venice is always a favourite of mine. The only place in London where it feels like a village :o)

Do you actually like your own work?

I think if this is a hobby to you, you have that luxury to suck once in a while. If you're doing this as a job however then of course there is a certain pressure to perform. I've never been paid to take photos. I think on occasion that they would be good enough but I don't want that pressure to...

Do you actually like your own work?

I think it's a cliche but it holds water: you are always your own worst critic. Personally I prefer the sage like words of the Gin Blossoms: If you don't expect too much from me, I might not let you down :o) Sometimes, when none of it seems good enough, go through the photos with a likeminded...

    story behind your photo?

Somebody told me one time, Polly 'take photos with your eyes and develop them in your heart'. From that point of view, I hope you have many photos of your father. Interesting place, Clearwater, fl - hope to return someday....

    What am I doing wrong

You don't say how far away from the stage you are when you shoot. If you're quite a way back (enough to get the whole play in) I'm guessing that the camera is having to cope with a wide range of tones. I think it's easier to understand why this happens when you realise that the human eye sees...

is it me or my lens

Also, if you have time, I'd be tempted to use the camera on the 2sec timer. At that range even teh slightest movement can throw the photo out and a lot of that movement can come from simply pressing the shutter release. Spot focus and up the shutter speed to at least 1/300 and I reckon you're...

Are you a wide boy (or girl)?

I think the world is trying to tell you something. I'd sit up and listen :naughty:

    story behind your photo?

A couple. The first one was from backpacking in Mexico. I was doing nothing more than picking up washing when all of a sudden, the sky flared up. I'd always been told 'colours first - subject second' but didn't know what to shoot. I just had my little Pentax S50 on me and focus locked onto the...

Essex - location ideas for gritty car shoot....

If you get around the Lakeside shopping area there are plenty of car-parks - usually with some retail store backdrop lighting. You'll find worn out signage for Arena Essex and karting which may (or may not) bring a nice irony to the shot or try underneath the QE2 bridge. The span of the bridge...

Are you a wide boy (or girl)?

It helps that the front of the Aston is a fairly rounded shape anyway so it just highlights this a little more but I think it gives a very dramatic effect.... if not strictly speaking realistic

Are you a wide boy (or girl)?

I looked at the Sigma 10-20mm long and hard and also the Tokina 12-24mm and opted for the latter. TBH it rarely comes off the body. I love the drama that this can produce Not my best shot but maybe my favourite type of shot.

    Lightroom and Jpeg

Personally, I'd say no. Like you, I used to shoot jpeg all the time and used nothing more than Picasa. They suited each other just fine. But, if you ever want to talk about shooting RAW (and as you have a 550D I'm curious why not) then my opinion would most certainly change.

Essex to the Lake District via the rest of the world...

.... that is pretty much me. It seemed a good idea at the time. I don't suppose anyone expected me to quit my job, sell the house and travel the world - least of all, me - but that is exactly what happened. Got some nice pics on the way too :) A friend suggested I should make a website and...
