Very new to this - video on D800

I use Pluraleyes for multi cam editing and it works. The only proviso is that it needs clean audio in order to work effectively. I use zoom H4 as a separate source and on board camera recorded sound and this works in allowing the software to sync. I think Pluraleyes do a 30 day full function...

Is there a future for steadicams?

I operated the Steadicam Pilot for some time and then scaled down to Steadicam Merlin. The merlin is a lot more practical in events such as weddings but the key is to get everything balanced to give you good footage. Very steep learning curve but the practice will pay off.

    Starting Video work from scratch

Yes, pass on crane for now but for avoidance of doubt i was thinking of the small handy JIBs which can transform ordinary shots into something fantastic. Agree with others that slider is probably a good investment. You say client not expecting a lot but for the sake of a small investment in...

    Starting Video work from scratch

Yes, good point. I use JIB Crane for my wedding shoots, can be a logistical nightmare organising resources etc but the added value to production and final product is immense. Any wedding videographers on here?

Going back to your original question, my firm offers both photography and video. I had a potential new client in three weeks ago adamant that they wanted photography only and no film. After watching samples and actual DVD's they decided to go for filming as well in the package so, as a business...

You may want to consider 16-35 F2.8 for wide shots and slider very effective or failing that possibly the 17-40 F4
