    Paris at night, tips needed

Do NOT leave Paris without taking pics of La Défense. It's stunning! Sacre Coeur, the basilica is amazing, as is the Seine close to Notre Dame. The Moulin Rouge is on the tourist trail and is worth a few snaps. The Montparnasse Tower also. L'Arche du Triomphe is amazing. Take some close ups...

    Picture Stealing

Great idea, but not from a business website! :)

    Picture Stealing

Quite a few times I've had to e-mail people to ask them to remove my images from their website. I give them 72 hours in which to do so, after which the threat of legal action under copyright theft laws will become immediate. It usually works, and I usually receive an apology with a lame excuse...

So What Do You Intend to Photograph Next year?

Le Mans isn't that far from us, and somewhere I haven't been (except their out of town shopping), so may just do that myself if we're not too busy here. Paris is somewhere I adore, and we'll be treating ourselves to another Springtime long weekend there with friends again.

So What Do You Intend to Photograph Next year?

Funnily enough, just been chatting about this to the wife, coming back from the supermarket. The idea I've had for a project is this. Entitled '22K', it's a photographic journey from our farmhouse into Saumur, our nearest large town. The distance, funnily enough is 22K! It's an attempt to show...

    Geminids meteor shower 13/14th December

I'll be largely in my field, all lights off with the camera on the tripod! No light pollution in my bit of France! I've seen many meteor showers, but never had a go at shooting them.

    Tripod advice please.

Liked the look of 7day shop but unfortunately they don't have an option for creating my account from my home in France! Shame!

    Tripod advice please.

I'm around the 6' 1" mark myself. Short of digging a hole, I have to stoop, which (especially in the cold) plays havoc with the old lumbar regions. So, the higher the better really. Not having seen the Manfrotto range, I'm relying on webshots as well as you good people! Thanks for all the...

    Tripod advice please.

Looking at spending the least amount of dosh possible as it'll more than likely be the only Crimbo pressie I get from the missus! Seriously, I know I should be looking at a quality set of legs, but I can't face parting with £300! More like £100 - tops!

    Tripod advice please.

Cheers Andy. I'll have a look at the Manfrotto range and see what they've got. I'm 6'1" myself, so need something that'll get up there to a comfy position.

    Tripod advice please.

Hi all. I have a reasonable tripod at the 'mo, from my old SLR days. It was good then, but not so good now. I do suffer at times with a sore back, and so I need a tripod that extends to a good 5 and a half feet or so at max. as I can't be doing with all that stooping mullarkey! I'd also like...

    BBC Countryfile Photo Comp

Congrats both of you! I'll be watching as the quality of the entrants is usually stunning and a great kick up the rear to get back out there!

Advice wanted for live gig photography

Don't forget to 'up' the ISO to account for the low light conditions. I always used to use 400ASA when using film in the good old days. Oh, and it goes without saying NOT to use flash if shooting from the crowd - all you'll get are shots of the backs of punter's heads! One I took from the...

    Bonsoir!

Hi Lee! Thanks for the welcome & the nice comments. That shot was taken just a few hundred yards from the house. Lots of forest here!

    Bonsoir!

Thanks very much for the kind welcome. Today's the day (hopefully). Off to the HyperU at Bourgueill to buy the Canon EOS400 kit. They have it in there for a shade over €900 for the body, 2 lenses and a few other bits and pieces. It's the best price I've seen for it over here, so biting the...
