recently got back into film, and shot a roll of FP4 which I took to a local specialist here in the US. Got some prints back, and they all look great. He offered a negative scanning service for an extra few quid, which i took him up on. problem is, the pics on the CD look terrible. an example...

looking at some batteries for my 400d, and there seems to be 3 categories : canon originals which most expensive, about 60 quid other manufacturers , eg calumet, hahnel etc about 30 quid real cheapies - about 10 quid. is there much difference in the quality of these ?

i got a photobook printed from kodak, and the picture quality was faultless. even better was the incredible turnaround time - i created the book on their website at 11pm last wednesday night, and the postman delivered them at 10am on the friday (less than two days)

as luck would have it (ha) I am going to be around nottingham at the weekend with quite a lot of time to kill. i will have my car, so would be interested in hearing of any interesting landscape locations within about a half hour drive....

i am suprised the majority of the talk is about the high ISO, when IMHO the main feature of this hack is being able to enable spot metering

in my opinion (not worth much) then would seriously think about whether you will use the long end of this lens very much - i am thinking that on holiday it will be more likely people shots and wide(ie landscape) work. the reason I say this, is that these type of 'super zoom' lenses will...

whats the opinion on travel/lightweight tripods ? looking for one that I can 'throw into my case' on my us trip. hopefully it would fit my redsnapper ball head. also havent got much money to spend :)
