Have you had a problem with your Canon 580EX II?

Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a Canon 580EX II flash but looking online there seems to be a bad design fault which may or may not be fixed with the latest batches. http://lpadesign.com/580EXII.pdf http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1082658 The newer 430EX II does not have these...

Whoops! Sorry guys I had a messaged typed up but I never sent it - just been sitting in a tab (I open too many tabs at once...) Hi Stuart haha... I've been involved with the helis too much... It wasn't bad mate thanks, I hope you had a great one. I've just realised that even L lenses have...

Looking at getting a Canon Speedlite 430EX II but I have some questions

Thanks guys :). I don't know if I should create a new thread or not but my question now is how often do people use full 1:1 with TTL deciding? Of course the main difference is with 1:1 between the two. I'm swaying towards the 580 but many people are using the 430. The worst case I am thinking...

Looking at getting a Canon Speedlite 430EX II but I have some questions

Thanks Tom :). Yeah - RC Helis are my other hobby flash isn't really for that but friends weddings (low budget) and for portraits of family and friends. I'm looking for the smooth pop you get with a decent flash, outdoors too but I'm willing to accept that these flashes might not be powerful...

Looking at getting a Canon Speedlite 430EX II but I have some questions

Thanks very much to you both these forums are really helpful  I am in the same situation as yourself - I currently do not need to use the flash wirelessly but I wanted to know if I upgrade my body later (maybe in a year or twos time) that I can use my 430EX II off camera from the body's...

Looking at getting a Canon Speedlite 430EX II but I have some questions

Hi all, Not sure if this should be in lighting or not but please move if it is. I am looking at purchasing a Canon Speedlite 430EX II for my Canon 550D. I kind of regret not getting a 600D now after learning it has a wireless flash function. In the future I am thinking of picking up...

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

I have sent an email to Canon before starting this thread but no reply as of yet. I'm sure they'll reply in good time. Cheers

Discrete Bag for gripped 550D + 70-200mm 2.8L with hood on

Hi guys, the Think Tank Slign-O-Matic 20 is perfect but well above my budget before I order that as it's around 120 quid just for a bag, are they any alternatives? 70-200mm with hood, attached to a gripped cam, and ideally room for another lens or two. Thanks in advanced. Cheers

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

I'm fine with the lens - thanks everyone for their posts. I am now happy after playing around with two that my lens is acting normal, I hope so anyway. I have read up a lot and it seems only primes get away with next to no CA. I guess some reviews just have to be taken with a pinch of salt as...

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

The good news is the lens is great otherwise, I doubt I would ever receive two bad ones in a row, I guess the chances of that are very low.

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

I perfectly understand - I just expected better from a L lens, the various coatings, UD elements etc, I expected very low CA results instead I got more than a standard 18-135mm kits lens. I hope you can understand why I am questioning this as this is a 300 quid odd lens compared to one just...

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

Umm, I think not, if you have nothing useful to say please go elsewhere. Please realise these pictures are done to DEMONSTRATE the problem, of course it's going to be worse than normal pictures. However you can't ignore the fact that it still appears in normal pictures. No filter...

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

It is much better if you just expose for the sky, but then again I don't really take any pictures of the sky, but lots of objects against them :). I don't know what you mean by pushed, but I can say for certain they are 100% direct from the SD card..

Is this expected performance from an L lens?

Good idea, shooting at a higher aperture does fix it mostly, but I try to keep the ISO as low as possible with this cam, as you can see noise shows up quite a bit.. p.s this new lens does seem a little bit better, only very slightly though. I'm going out for a shoot now to test it properly.
