I know you've all recommended the sigma 150-500mm, and from what I've seen I'm rather happy with looking to buy that lens, but I've also seen the 50-500 sigma lens and wondered if anyone had any experience with that lens for wildlife/bird photography??

I've recently seen some lovely photos on the internet that were taken using an infrared filter and then tweaked. I quite fancy giving it a go myself as the results are stunning, but I'm unsure what make of filter to use. I obviously want quality but I can't afford to fork out too much at this...
