    Has anyone ever been discouraged from bringing a camera on trips?

    No point in having a camera if you don't take it with you. Yes there is always a risk that something may go missing but to be afraid by that small risk will make you loose the good pictures you may have taken. I travel worldwide and have yet to loose anything.
