The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Been playing around with ND filters for my Sigma 30mm on the a6300. Fantastic lens and really seems to shine on the Sony.

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Fwiw, I managed to have a go with the 70-350 on my a6300 this morning, and the difference seems quite large. Auto focus was faster and much more accurate than when using the 200-600, and the image quality also seemed much sharper due to a lot less 'soft focus'. The less range also didnt seem to...

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Thanks, that's really useful. I think my conclusions are leading me to move on the 200-600 and pick up a faster apeture lens with slightly less range, which I'd lose anyway with a new FF Camera. Bonus being it'll save me a bit of cash, whilst still leaving loads of room to continue the...

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Really great info thank you. I guess my last thought is if it comes down to whether the a6600 or a7iii handle high iso better than the 6300 can for my low light photography, otherwise it feels sticking with the 6300 is probably best for now.

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Ok, thanks for that update. Seems a tough choice. A faster AF would be good for in-flight birds, but i guess my main gripe is that the a6300 seems to produce really noisy images in anything less than bright daylight. Attached is a couple of shots of a gull unedited. Whilst the focus isn't...

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Thanks all. I think the a9 is probably a bit too much. Looking at the a6600, reckon that's going to give a noticeable improvement on AF and low light on the big lens?

    FF Upgrade for Wildlife

Hey, Currently using an A6300 with the Sony 200-600mm (5.6-6.3), which seems great for static birds on sunny days, but it really seems to be struggling with AF on moving birds, and in low light situations. Thinking of upgrading to an A7iii (seems significant over the ii) as I'm starting to...

    Beginner Attaching a camera strap

Restrap make a really good 'sling' camera strap, with a nice padded shoulder. It's also magnetic so detaches like the PD ones.

I've not used it, but heard 500px is good for critique in the 'groups'. Ipernity maybe worth a look to?

Beginner Focusing Advice on long lenses

Thanks! Some really good tips there. I have started carrying my tripod with me now, which has certainly helped on the fast moving birds. really appreciate that.

    Next Step Camera

Hey, In a nutshell, my 450D is starting to show a few signs of wear (errors etc), and I'm thinking of upgrading. Probably keeping to Canon because of my lenses, what would the next step camera be? Ideally I'd like to see a bit of a step up in the auto focus and resolution. I've done a brief...

I bought a Sigma 150-500 second hand for relatively cheap. Glad I did, but even now I'm itching for something better!

Beginner Focusing Advice on long lenses

Hey all! I've recently bought a 2nd hand Sigma 150-500mm lens to do some shots of birds from a bit further away. However I'm having a bit of trouble getting good focus on smaller birds. I've set the Focus on the 'middle spot', and what seems to look great in the viewfinder often comes out out...

    Hello!

Hello everyone! Pretty new to photography, but really enjoying photographing around the local wetlands. I'm sure I'll branch off into other things too, particularly like flower shots!
