Eliminating fall off on models legs

Well this thread has definitely been an education! Tfboy I am using rectangular shaped softboxes. I did another shoot yesterday, having the softboxes lower (at the cost of the quality of light on the models face) did the trick. I'll invest in one or two reflectors in the near future to have...

Eliminating fall off on models legs

Thanks for the reply Gary. You're right I have been placing the light high to get a nice modelling effect on the face. Although as they are still full body shots I've been taking I've been mindful not to set the softboxes too high. Option 1 isn't possible due to space constraints, the...

Eliminating fall off on models legs

I have the problem where with my two strobes I'm getting quite bad fall off on my models on the mid thigh and lower. The problem is I can't move my strobes any further back due to space (im shooting in my living room) and as I'm trying to reduce fall off on my black background. Im guessing a...

    Perspex/Acrylic Sheet size?

Cheers peeps. Popped up B&Q to check out their sizes, 6x4, 4x4, 6x2 all pretty reasonable priced compared to whats online. However measured my car with the seats down, i reckon it'll only hold a piece about 5x3. Will see if i can find someone with a estate or even a van to help me out and pick...

    Perspex/Acrylic Sheet size?

Thanks guys knew I'd get some help on here. That's a point no way I'd be able to get a 6x4 in my car. Also 4x2 might be a bit on the small size as it'd be for adults. Think I'll pop along to b&q, maybe they do something about 4x5

    Perspex/Acrylic Sheet size?

Looking at getting a perspex sheet on the floor for the lovely reflections. But my god are they expensive. Maximum size I could get due to storage space is 4' x 6' but off the top of my head I think 4' x 5' should be about the right size for one model...or could I go smaller? I really don't...

    80cm x 120cm softbox for full length?

Thanks garry, the largest I can get is 70x140 from this particular supplier so as ultra soft lighting isnt a requirement I think I'll go for the 80x120. Thanks for the link aswell

    80cm x 120cm softbox for full length?

Could someone please advise whether an 80cm x 120cm softbox would be large enough for full length shoots? I understand larger is better...but is this large enough? Thanks

Home studio lighting set up advice

So bigger is better when it comes to softboxes. Hmm I'll see about swapping the softboxes for larger ones, budget permitting. Does anyone know if a lastolite umbrella box or similar has the same effect as other umbrellas in spilling light all over the place in a small studio area?

Home studio lighting set up advice

Great so an umbrella isn't ideal in the small space i'm thinking of. I've just read your article "Light Shaping Tools" after I google'd "removable reflectors softboxes", atleast I assume you're the same Garry Edwards? Its a very good article thanks. So am I right in saying with removable...

Home studio lighting set up advice

Thanks cowasaki thats reassuring to hear. Do you have to use the strobes at full power? From my research with the sony a200 looks like the onboard flash to trigger the strobes doesn't work correctly, so looks like i'll be buying a hotshoe adaptor and radio trigger as from what I can tell this...
