Thanks for your input Neil, i'll have to see how much the new macs cost but that looks like a good way of keeping everything safe. It also means i can network my printer using the USB ports on the NAS.

Thanks for your input digitalfailure, i spoke with the Drobo guy at focus on imaging, and i was told that it's not easy to get it to work across a mac and PC at the same time. Is that correct or was he just treat me gently woth my limited networking knowledge?

There's also BPD photech in Warrington, just off J21 of the M6, you can also come off the M62 and go through Birchwood. I've not any digital prints done but the film stuff I've had done has been good. Kev
