Hi-Tech Pro 10 stop filter issue

HDR wouldn't have helped, just would of done that instead for a different effect. Me and my father travelled round Cyprus taking photos at various points. The Hi-tech filter looked quite blue, but as I shoot raw thought I'd recover it. When I got back and I started to process I soon learn't that...

Hi-Tech Pro 10 stop filter issue

That's a great tip! Will defiantly try this! Hi-tech shouldn't be allowed to sell a 10 stop filter. It's not fit for purpose. It ruined hundreds of shots from a holiday I had to Cyprus. I'd of done HDR if I'd have known how bad it was going to be.

    Canon 300mm F4L IS USM

I had a 100 - 400 that gave very mixed results. I used to have a lot of soft images. The 300 F4 is amazing in comparison. Nails most things. I'd recommend it all day long. The 400 5.6 is supposed to be great too :-)

    Richmond Park ...London

If your going to go then make sure it's first thing in the morning, just before sunrise, the light is amazing! After my postings on the kingfisher I've not seen him since. Might be a summer visitor? Just be prepared for lots of walking and an abundance of wildlife. It's great. A zoom lens is a...

    Amsterdam

Thank you all for the comments. I feel a little better taking the camera now. I'm really looking forward to it as everybody says what a great place it is, and what fantastic photo opportunities there are. I may leave the camera in the hotel the first day and get a feel for the place, and an...

    Amsterdam

Hi all, I'm looking for some advise. The girlfriend and I are off to Amsterdam next weekend as I've never been before, and I believe the laws change in January to stop you smoking as a tourist, and this is something I've got to try. First of all I've been warned off taking my dslr with a...

Canon remote release with pocket wizard, CM-N3-ACC

Hi all, has anybody fashioned their own lead to trigger a 7D from a pocket wizard? The leads are mighty expensive at around £100! I was wondering if I brought a cheap trigger button from eBay, and a jack plug, could I cut the button off and replace it with the jack plug? It's relatively simple...

    First monopod advise...

I would opt for hand holding at brands, setting a lower shutter speed and trying the get some really great background blur! This will make for some amazing shots! I personally found that I really liked the idea of a mono pod, but never use it for sports and motor racing as it restricts my...

    How has this been processed?

'High contrast look' might also be worth a google or youtube search ;)

    Gloomy Bear

If you'd have told me you've taken pictures with a toy, I wouldn't have been interested, but these are really amazing! The lighting, pose, dof, and overall charm of these images has made me smile. Really well done! Would love to see more! :)

    500mm Lens

Nothing wrong with the 100-400. Just didn't get as many keepers as I wanted. Like I said, it depends on what your after. I would never go back to a long telezoom unless it really impressed me. And It would have to be amazing to beat my prime. Everyone's different, your clearly happy with your...

    500mm Lens

I found when using my 100-400 I was always at the 300-400 end, Aviation and wildlife etc. I found it was a little softer than I wanted. I brought a prime and my keeper rate went right up. Every image was sharp and usable. There are strong arguments for zooms and primes, but in my case the...

    500mm Lens

I'd go for a 400mm f5.6 prime. Your keeper rate will be twice that of a zoom lens. And if it's anything like my 300mm f4 your pics will be sharp enough to cut your eyes on! I went from a 100-400 to the 300 prime, and would never go back to a zoom! :)
