weekly Kdot's 52 (2012) : Industry Added (Secure on hold)

Haven't had the chance to come up with a good 'Secure' yet, but I'll get to that shortly. In the meantime, here's my daughter, being industrious, doing her homework. Took several shots and decided on this one, for good or for bad! Had to consider the composition/crop, whether to include eye...

weekly Kennysarmy's 2012 Project of FOUR lenses...January week FOUR added

Personally, I'd slice a chunk off the top (to just above the whispy cloud) and a smaller chunk off the bottom and have a a 1:3 ratio 'widescreen' shot. Love the colouring. :)

weekly Kdot's 52 (2012) : Industry Added (Secure on hold)

I've got a busy week on now, so decided to get something up for Sweet tonight, and if I get the chance to do what I originally planned, which is a bit more involved, I will. Not very original, and a bit of a cop out, but had some fun playing with the lighting, and shutter speeds. This...

weekly Kennysarmy's 2012 Project of FOUR lenses...January week FOUR added

Was also going to mention the bookcase, not only because I hadn't realised you could read, but just found it (the bookcase) distracting. As Jean says, maybe have it all across the background and/or throw it out of focus a bit more (shot was taken at f4.0). Ahhh...! The only thing I...

weekly Kdot's 52 (2012) : Industry Added (Secure on hold)

Thanks for the welcome back! :geek: I'm still way off pace and playing catch-up, but slowly getting back in the swing of things. Week 1: Direction Had an idea for this shot as I have been building up a new (road) bicycle recently...but then had to send the frame back and get a replacement...

    weekly jeangenie's 2012 photo52 (09ers) - Wk 9 Passion

Jean - really lovely shot, as has been said. I'd agree with John (Dark Star) regarding the contrast, although a slightly bolder black border may serve a similar purpose...? (AKA perceived contrast)

    weekly Sarah's 52 2012 : *ON HOLD for a while*

Loving the shot for direction - I like the bent pins, adds character to the short, otherwise it would be just too uniform for me. Future - I know the cracker isn't the focus of the shot, but the blown bits on top the cracker draw my eye a little bit too much, which distracts from the actual...

    weekly Dark Star's 52 '09ers: Week 16/17 Poverty/Self

Great idea, and well executed! Would be interested to see how a slightly larger canvas looked, to enable you to play with the figure composition slightly. The height in the portrait image above gives it an added sense of space IMO, but you would obviously be in danger of losing some detail...

weekly Kdot's 52 (2012) : Industry Added (Secure on hold)

Hello all. One or two 09ers may remember me, as I did a partial 52s in 2009 (end) and 2010 (beginning). I appreciate I am a little late to the party, but I'm in desperate need of inspiration, so am raising this thread as motivation to get my backside in gear, in a nutshell! I had my...

    Which Batteries?

Just been through this process. Most of the aforementioned threads will name the Eneloops as the best, with the Good To Go's as a cheaper alternative (both available from 7dayshop). Obviously, others are listed, but that would be a fair consensus.

    Canon 500d or Nikon d5000

Do you know anyone else with a Canon or Nikon dSLR, as it can be useful having knowledge, experience and/or compatible kit to borrow, even if it's just to try out something before you buy.

@ Daddy Day Care & Donki - thanks both! :)

    Flash for Dummies

I just got my first flash earlier this week (Canon EX430ii). Initial test shots were simply pointing the flash at the ceiling, setting TV at 1/160 and letting ETTL do the rest - very pleasing results of my daughter. Be careful bouncing the flash off any coloured surfaces, as that will mess with...

    Flash AA Battries

Just got my first Eneloops (from 7dayshop) for my new flash, although the cases were both destroyed in shipping. Fair play to 7DS though, as they are sending replacements FOC. As per the above, I need a charger for them, and whilst I'd love to spend £28 on the BL700, this seems excessive for...

    Ryder Cup Golf

I like this shot from yesterday...it's Tiger Woods preparing on the tee, surrounded by umbrellas. With all his marital troubles of late, the writing on the left hand umbrella struck me as slightly comical. I don't think Monty trusted his buggy driver either...
