    cheap and cheerful compact?

Thanks Lawrie but I think I'll wait to buy until I can afford a new one of whatever I decide to go with. Thanks again :)

    cheap and cheerful compact?

Thanks all. Yes, I had thought of the battery problem and mean to look at that carefully before buying. I also thought of e-bay but so far haven't see anything that suits over here (I'm in Belgium). Haven't even had the "chance" to see mine ;)

    cheap and cheerful compact?

Looks good too and cheaper as well. I don't know how important the stabiliser is. I don't have one on the SLR and have never needed it but maybe I'm missing out on something. The chunkier hold is important to me too and I do much prefer a viewfinder. Getting great ideas here. Thanks everyone...

    cheap and cheerful compact?

About that price range is right for now. I don't want to spend more really as I don't "need" the compact but looking at it the SX130 for example, it looks like something that might suit well.

    cheap and cheerful compact?

Hi all, Just wanted some input on a lower price range compact that takes decent, simple pics. I had a fujifilm finepix F11 of Dads, a few years old think, and I preferred it to a newer one I have which got stolen :( I have a problem with some of the newer compacts. They are so small...

    next lens? nikon D70s

Hi both and thanks for the replies :) For the 70-300, is that nikkor or other? I'm presuming there's a difference in quality between lenses. I had a borrow of a sigma 100-300mm from a friend and didn't much like it but that might have been my incompetence of course and I know it's not the...

    next lens? nikon D70s

Hi all, I have a Nikon D70s. I can't afford to upgrade it and I can't afford an expensive lens either but I would like to know what I'm aiming for. As a very much amateur photographer I find the different lenses very confusing. I work a lot with my 50mm 1:8 and absolutely love it. I take...

    The Slimming Thread 2010

Well done Dee, you look great and I'm sure you'll keep going  I need to lose a little - I actually have 10kg more than my ideal weight but due to illness and meds (including cortisone) I have very little chance of losing it. If I could even lose half I'd be happy. I walk as much as I...

    Nifty fifty

I have recently acquired a 50mm for my Nikon DSLR and am delighted with it. It gives nice sharp shots and isn't too dear to buy. The quality seems OK to me. I did these recently with it (note that I am definitely not a pro) as a test...

    ? can bubbles be removed?

I'd agree on the shoes but hey, that's what he wanted and I guess it's their day - he's very off-the-wall and in that way we're quite alike though my wedding shots don't include trainers!!

    ? can bubbles be removed?

OK thanks a lot CT - I figured it was one for experience and in any case I'm not ready to start wedding photography just yet ;) It's kind of reassuring to know that everyone else finds it as hard as I did - I was thinking that maybe I'd missed something!! thanks again
