at a guess, it sounds like one of your plugins is out of date and is using old (deprecated) functions, hence it's using the deprecated.php file

Because Dreamweaver writes rubbish code!! The code isn't brilliant to be fair, but I've seen lots worse. The contact page has been well and truly messed up though - it even has php code in the html! my eyes hurt now!
