I didnt get a recovery disc with the laptop so I assume that there must be something stored on it that will allow me to do a re install? ( Sorry for all these daft questions but Laptops really are not my thing?) Is it normal for a reasonable laptop like this go have such reduced speed after...

No sorry I cant remember :shrug:, I kind of worked out what was doing it though it was when I was trying to add photos from my computer onto my iphone, as soon as it got to that part of the sync it froze and the screen went blue?

I do have a fresh copy of vista and also XP availble so may give that a go. What is the best way to completely clear a laptop HD as I have done it before on my old desk top by taking the HD out and Formatting it using another computer?
