Advice needed for British Grand Prix

Depending on how committed you are then you should be able to cover a good amount of track on Friday. When I used to visit I would start at the exit of Club corner and in that 90 minute session work my way around to Stowe. There are a good range of shots here from low down through the fence to...

    Monopod or no monopod?

If you've never shot motorsport before I would suggest attending a few races and shooting from the spectator side first just to get a feel for the sights, sounds and smells. This isn't to sharpen your creativity but to develop an appreciation that motorsport is dangerous and inexperience or just...

    Monopod or no monopod?

You need to check how much your PLI covers you for. I'd guess a bundled PLI such as what you've shown will be for £1 million. All UK circuits demand a minimum of £5 million in which case they won't let you sign on. It's kind of academic though, if you haven't applied for accreditation by this...

    Rockingham - where to shoot?

You won't get anywhere near the outside of the hairpin at turn 2 however Rockingham's one redeeming feature is that you don't have to walk far to get to a lot of the corners so you can easily work out where will be best for you.

    Shooting through the fence

Was the sun behind you? That is a great way of picking up unwanted fence detail. Did your aperture change? That may have also contributed.

    Canon 1D mkIV shutter replacement

I've heard figures of £500+VAT but no idea if that is accurate so I would be interested in hearing what you get quoted.

    vulcan to the sky

If anyone wants to photograph a static Vulcan I would have to suggest the one at Wellesbourne. I turned up there this morning and despite everyone being hard at work on various jobs they still found someone to give me (for a small donation) a very good cockpit tour and no problem with taking a...

    Canon 60D stuck shutter button.

I had a similar problem with my 60D. It was fixed under warranty although it still occasionally recurs in the sense that if I hold the button down to take several shots it takes an extra one after I've released the button. A bit annoying but not a major problem.

The Ultimate Car Rig Photography Thread!

No need to go all the way to the Nurburgring, just ask your local circuit if you can have a go during a test day lunch hour. (it does help if the client has paid for a full day of testing for two cars).

    What do you need?

Do you work for an insurance company as I can see lots of people rushing out and spending a lot on insurance only to find they've wasted their money. Unless things have got very lax in recent years even at club level you need a legitimate reason to be there and just having insurance isn't going...

    Some advice

Here's the discussion regarding the spectator side photography locations although I noticed on my last visit to Silverstone that a lot of the good spots around the infield loop have now been closed off. http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=352675

    Some advice

I very much doubt you will have full pit lane access on a VIP ticket as the pit lane is a place of work and a pretty dangerous one at that so the last thing the organisers want is members of the public, brimmed full of hospitality booze wondering around the place. It sounds to me like the...

    Donington and kit lens

Even with 200mm I'd stick to the infield spots already mentioned. I don't think you'll need wellies.

    Snetterton Today and tomorrow

In fact the Ferrari they dented today is apparently worth several million dollars and is due to be in Monaco next week.
