Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Hey Peter, That's a great find! I just looked and they have a Medium format holder for the 3170, for $5, so if all else fails I can order that instead - provided they'll ship it at a sensible price. :-)

Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Thanks Steven, perhaps I am expecting too much! After how well the 35mm holders worked with the scanner, was a bit frustrated when I tried the MF one.

No, afraid not!! Only the other 3 tabs. (...just tried playing around with modes and settings but couldn't make that tab appear either.)

Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Hi Brian, Thank you for the suggestion, however there doesn't seem to be an option in Epson Scan for that when using the 3170 scanner (even if it is there is for other models).

Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Hey, Thank you everyone. :) So just to update I took some screen shots of the what is going on. First up, the Preview scan from a single strip of 35mm colour negs, note individual thumbnails. The second image is Preview scan from the Medium Format holder, note strange cropping. Last is...

Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Hi Everyone, Thank you for all your replies, ...just to add I am using the Epson Scan software. (I have looked for a 'manual scan area' option in Configuration but there isn't one and the Target Size option is ignored) Hopefully someone might have a definitive answer soon. :)

Help with scanning Medium Format film on Epson Scanner.

Hi there, I have a second hand Epson 3170 scanner, and recently acquired some film holders for it. The 35mm film and slide holders work great, however disappointingly the Brownie (Medium Format) Holder isn't recognised by the scanner. Could some with experience of this scanner or similar...

Rugby/ Football Capture: Framing vs. Cropping

Thanks Tobers. Guess I will have to practice leaving a bit more space around the players and follow the action waiting for 'the definitive moment'. :-D Amen to that! Yes, definitely on a prosumer body like the 40D where I only have 9 AF points and no assist option! But have plenty of...

Rugby/ Football Capture: Framing vs. Cropping

Hi Gary, Steven and David, Thank you for your helpful responses, much appreciated. And David thank you for the expanding your answer to include lots of very helpful info! Re. Sensor size. Yes, cropping is something I normally try and avoid/ keep to a minimum as I only have 10MP (Canon 40D)...

Rugby/ Football Capture: Framing vs. Cropping

Hi, Just wondering when the experienced Sports Shooters here are capturing their action images if they try to frame their images well at the point of capture (eg. get it right in camera) or if they aim for the catching the action first and then tightening up the composition afterwards by...

Jet Tec Epson R1800 Compatible Cartridges

Hi 18%grey, Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately these 'compatibles' only communicate the volume of ink in the cartrigde not it's type. As it happens I decided to go ahead and put them in the way I mentioned, I then printed a Nozzle Check pattern and compared it to an older one I still...

Jet Tec Epson R1800 Compatible Cartridges

Hi, Can anyone please let me know what coloured side the JetTec Matte Black cartridge for the Epson R1800 has? I took all my cartridges out yesterday in order to clean the printhead and although I stacked them in order I have just noticed that the cartridges aren't individually labelled...
