Any idea how much this cost to fix ?

good point... i once had this problem on a lens... I ended up buying a cheap filter, knocking out the glass and just using the metal ring for lens capping purposes! :) you could use a step-up ring too i guess!

Any idea how much this cost to fix ?

Ask canon... these kind of things can be cheap or expensive depending on the compartment that needs to be replaced... Good luck! :)

Helios 44-2 58mm f/2 - best photo accessory for the money!

I've always been interested in older lenses, but never done much about it. I'm back in the UK for a week and picked up a Helios 44-2 (circa 1974) and a m42 to Eos adapter... And boy, this was probably the best value camera related accessory i've ever bought... it was 15 pounds! :) I would...

    Just a bit of fun

It's nice to hear most people already have their top 3 lenses (or at least 2 of them)! :)

    Just a bit of fun

    If you could only have 1 body and 3 lenses what would they be? Money is no object. I'll start : Body : 5D Mkiii - Good all rounder! :) Lens 1 : Canon 24mm f/1.4L II - My street/landscape/Astro/travel lens Lens 2 : Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II - Portrait/wildlife lens Lens 3 : Canon 200-400 f/4L...

Canon 1D MK IV or 5D MK III

Lost - Thanks and stunning images! Well done!!! Though the 1D IV obviously performs well, I think you take a lot of the credit for those shots! I have envy in my eyes! :) Graeme - Thanks for the info and your reply! More reach is not always a requirement, but it is always nice to have! :) I...

Canon 1D MK IV or 5D MK III

Pete.rush - Thanks for your insight Gaz - Thanks for the full on comparison! :) I will bare it in mind in case a good value one pops up! I am doing a lot of wildlife at the moment (i live in India right now), and switching lenses on my 5D is tedious and not always advisable given the amount of...

Canon 1D MK IV or 5D MK III

Zephyr - I would use it mainly for wildlife... I don't think i would sell my 5D III, even if it is just for the low light capabilities, but a second body, a 1D IV, would sit nicely. After the IQ of FF, i think i would find it hard to go back to a crop body! I'm going to keep an eye out for a...

Canon 1D MK IV or 5D MK III

Hmmm... so it looks like there are slight advantages and preferences each way! I think i will stick with my 5D... It is fast enough for the wildlife I do, and I don't only do wildlife. Good point... I'll wait and see if the fabled 7d MK II is like when/if it comes out. If it looks good, I...

Canon 1D MK IV or 5D MK III

Hi all, I've noticed a lot of 2nd hand 1D IV's poping up for sale, and am tempted. I currently shoot with a 5D III. I've used a friends 1D IV once and I loved the slight length advantage (1.3x) with great IQ, but I have not had the opportunity to directly compare it to my 5D.... has anyone...

    Extension tubes - any negatives?

You can always reverse a lens..... that's what I do... which reminds me, I should do some more macro action again! :)

    Extension tubes - any negatives?

There is no glass, so IQ is not really affected... You loose stops of light (true?). Get full metal ones, otherwise you lens might fall off. I don't have any, but just had a friend who had that problem. Kenko have a great reputation for them! Good luck and have fun! :)

    Camera Straps?

FYI re-BR... my camera came off the strap and smashed. BR paired for all the repairs and sent me their tether kit and lockstar to prevent it from happening again. If you are getting a BR strap, or have one already, i would highly recommend the lockstar and/or a leash as well! I still use BR...

Controversial Topic: What irks you about other photographers?

I guess the only things that irks me is when i see someone with a fantastic camera, a fantastic lens and I see them taking a picture of something in the distance, a landscape or bird for example, and just before the shutter clicks, the on-camera flash pops up! All the gear and no idea.... Oh...
