    LX7 to LX100 Big jump/improvement or ?

I haven't used a LX7, but I'm delighted with my LX100, and can't recommend it highly enough for both ergonomics and image quality. My Sony RX100 hasn't seen any use since I bought it.

How many cameras do you have and which do you prefer?

    1) Canon 5D Mark III (my main camera, which I love) 2) Canon 7D Mark II (I have mixed feelings about this, as it's superb in all respects except for IQ in low light, which is a significant part of my photography. It's in my bag for the reach only) 3) Panasonic LX100 (for me, the best compromise...

    Canon EF 17-40mm V Canon EF 16-35mm

I have the 16-24 mark II for its f/2.8 capability and I find the sharpness underwhelming compared to the more recent mark II 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 Canon zooms. However, right now the only alternative for a fast and wide requirement is a prime lens. If f/4 is sufficient you would find the 17-40...

    Camera for extreme cold

I went to view polar bears in Arctic conditions last month. Both my Canon EOS 7D and 5D Mark III (with battery grips) coped extremely well, a bigger issue was keeping my right hand warm enough to function (tell them to take some chemical hand warmers).

Equipment left in the cold. What to do?

I wouldn't worry too much. I've just come back from the Canadian Arctic and my 7D and 5D Mark III were utterly reliable even when covered in ice from my breath freezing on them. My Fuji X100 was temperamental, but I suspect I was using it way outside its design limits.

    Fake Ebay Canon LP-E6 Battery

I'm incredulous that I've received a second LP-E6 today from a different UK seller which is also counterfeit. It's actually a more convincing fake than the previous one, but one of several pointers was that the label on the battery contains 3 spelling mistakes! I phoned Ebay to complain about...

    PANAMOZ.

The lens and battery grip I ordered from Panamoz on Thursday arrived today- excellent service. It's also worth noting in light of a previous comment that they were very well packed. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this supplier, and the service from Tina feels more personal than...

Special offer: Canon 5D Mark III & Nikon D800

I'm in the same situation, I guess it was inevitable it would come down in price, although I just wasn't expecting it to do so that quickly!

    PANAMOZ.

Following a very smooth transaction for purchase of a 5d Mark III, I've just placed a second order with Panamoz for a Canon 16-35mm f2.8 and BG-E11, with payment via bank transfer to secure the 5% discount. I'm confident in their service now, but I'll report back on the outcome here.

    Fake Ebay Canon LP-E6 Battery

Caveat emptor: I've just received a fake Canon LP-E6 from Ebay. It was from UK seller jasonmaja, cheap but not implausibly so, and was described as genuine. Hopefully I'll get my money back, but I found these two pages useful in confirming my hunch that all was not well...

Full Frame Wide Angle Zoom Dilemma for Northern Lights

Many thanks for the comments. I think my ideal lens for the Northern Lights would be the 14mm 2.8, but I've just ordered a 16-35mm 2.8 from Panamoz, as I am really looking for more of an all rounder. Perhaps I'll buy a fast prime wide angle at a future date, but as wildlife is my main interest...

Full Frame Wide Angle Zoom Dilemma for Northern Lights

Thanks for a really helpful response. The aurora requirement isn’t a one off, so I wouldn’t sell the lens after this trip, but I was hoping to get a versatile lens as it’s an occasional use for me. The 14mm looks to be promising quality, but I worry it would be too wide for landscapes. A 24mm...

Full Frame Wide Angle Zoom Dilemma for Northern Lights

Thanks, I would have to raid the piggy bank for a 14mm 2.8 II, so I'd need to be convinced it was significantly sharper than the 16-35 2.8 II to outweigh the loss of focal length options. I'd probably end up wanting a 17-40mm as well.

Full Frame Wide Angle Zoom Dilemma for Northern Lights

I’ve just bought a 5D Mark III and swapped my 17-55 f2.8 for a 24-105 f4. I now need a wider lens to replace my EF-S 10-22, mainly for landscapes. I’ve now realised that the Canon full frame wide angle zoom options aren’t ideal. I could afford a 16-35mm II 2.8, but there are reports that it’s...

    Just pulled the trigger......

My 5d Mark III has just arrived, having been dispatched on Tuesday from Hong Kong. It came with a UK plug, as promised, and all looks to be in order. Impressive service and I will definitely consider Panamoz in future. Jeremy.
