I own a X1 and an m9-p and also dlux-5 I prefer dlux-5 to the X1, not that great camera for it's cost I woul'd go for the x100, my next choice If you are planning for higher jobs, must buy the d700 :)

if you think about m8, i woul'd go for an epson rd-1s. i had two and only sold them once i got the m9-p, i had 2 m8's but never liked. everytime i got one m8 i woul'd still return to the epson :) best of luck
