Need a portable external HD, with PC & Mac compatibility

(Apologies if there's an answer in another thread - I searched but couldn't find one!) I have a MacBook Air for traveling, and a Core i7 PC at home with CS4. My goal is to be able to transfer shots from my CF card to the MacBook Air while I'm in a studio/on a shoot, then transfer them to an...

    D90 Wide Angle Landscape

I had a Tokina 11-16mm for a couple of years and absolutely loved it. Great lens.

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

Thanks all, appreciate the thoughts and the justification of my purchase! When I forget about the £ involved I get a bit giddy about the D700s arrival on Saturday. I spent most of last night searching for deals on FX lenses, so my pockets will continue to get emptier!

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

I've got the 35mm already in the bag, so I'll keep that and give it a shot - thanks for the tip! Be nice if we could go back in time and get those film lenses back, eh?!

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

The only experience I have with Sigma lenses was back in the early 90s, and they were pretty average at the time - certainly behind Tamron and Tokina when it came to 3rd party lenses. Looking at your website you've got some quality shots, so obviously you expect a lot out of your equipment...

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

This is a solid point, the low light situations are where I'll see the most difference from what I've read. And thanks for that, I feel better now!

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

You should email me once a week and ask me if I regret putting that much money into what is probably going to be a very small improvement in my final image quality!

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

Yeah I love the compact form of the D90 too, and haven't convinced myself that I'll sell it once the FX collection starts to build. I have the DX 35mm and will give it a go on the D700. Does it end up just covering a DX-sized portion of the sensor, resulting in a 5MP-ish file? I think...

    Just bought a Nikon D700!

Have a D90 with all DX lenses unfortunately, so it's time for me to start the lens collection again! (I'm having a huge amount of buyer's remorse right now, because I don't make any money from my photography and my D90 was just fine really... but I really wanted to make the jump to FX...

    fish eye or wide angle

I would agree with the general consensus, my Tokina 11-16mm is my favourite lens. Just make sure you do lots of research, there are a few not so great WA zooms out there. Highly recommend the Tokina!
