    4k vs 180p for Extracting a still - GoPro Hero 5

Thanks for the input. I’ve tried handholding under water with a dome previously and fired of stills in burst, but in over 1000 shots only one was useable. A lot of chance and trial and error. I’ll see how I go and not pin all my hopes and time on GoPro shooting, and get some above water shots...

    4k vs 180p for Extracting a still - GoPro Hero 5

Hi All Looking to pick some brains if I can, after googling hasn't really provided the answers I'm looking for. I am off on another Diving Gannets trip in September and I'm planning on getting some underwater video by mounting my GoPro (Hero 5) to a pole and dunking it under the waterline. My...

Canon 500 f4 IS (mki) - Grainy images

Thanks guys. Appreciate that. The two days from the aviation shots I've shown were quite warm, well one was bloody roasting and the other was hot but with a bit of humidity. The badger shots where quite cool and breezy. Will try the 5dmkiii with it for aviation next month and see what's what...

This may sound odd, but can heat / air temperature affect images?

Thank you I use various stuff not noise reduction, most often noiseaware and then mask it to apply where I want

Thanks for the explanation. Obviously I expect some noise given the smaller sensor, my worry was that I've used lots of other lenses on that body in the same situations etc without that level of grain

So then it is the lens and body combo, i.e. that lens with that body, because I don't get it with my other body... anyway these are other shots with the 7dii. The first being on the sigma 150-600C, f7.1, iso500, 1/1600 Untitled by Jonathan Wintle, on Flickr This one was with 300 f4 +...

Canon 500 f4 IS (mki) - Grainy images

If your happy to supply with another mki lens I'll gladly give it a try.... all joking aside, I maybe being over critical as I do tend to zoom in to between and 80 and 100 percent when I'm working on them and checking them over which does highlight grain. I suppose he only other way I could try...

Not very much, if at all. If they require too much cropping I don't bother and just move on to the next one

Like I've said, I've used the mkii without issue and got some of the best shots I've had, and with this (on the same camera body) there's been massive differences. I.e. The grain
