Married, retired. My main hobby is probably most things motoring, which does of course provide some picture taking opportunities.
I've been a camera enthusiast since I was a teenager. I like taking pictures but often my attention has been on the technical aspects at the expense of the artistic. Looking back at my old holiday photos they are more of an archive than an art gallery.
I'm very conscious that wonderful pictures can come from practically any camera. And that Henri Cartier Bresson for example is said to have used one 35mm camera with a 50mm lens for most of his life. I like taking pictures with a phone (the inexpensive Motorola Edge 40 has a surprisingly good camera).
In 2019 we had a house fire and I lost most of my stuff, including a small museum of Pentaxes and K mount lenses. I quickly sought out some new kit in the form of the D750 and then spent most of the next 3 years being too busy to learn how to use it as we self-built a new house on the old plot.
Now I am resolved to get more out of it and I try to use it every day - in practice probably 2 or 3 times a week.
