D810 Owners thread anything to do with the D810

Don't want to fall foul of the rule I seem to recall around not sharing the same photos in multiple threads so for those who are interested, my RIAT shots are here... https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/riat-50-shades-of-blue.682305/

At less than half the number of megapixels of the D810 - 16.2 v 36, you may need to consider some longer glass, particularly given the average UK airshow crowd-line!! Hope you enjoy the D4.

Fair enough, mine only gets serious use at maybe 4 airshows a year and perhaps 3 or 4 low level trips so I’d be surprised if I took more than 6000 shots a year. Having owned a D500 for a while myself, you may find yourself disappointed in the image quality in comparison to the 810...

@Dangermouse1964 Just seen your ad for your D810 in the classifieds and wondered what issues you’re having at airshows and what you’re panning to replace it with?

Weird. Used http://tools.rackonly.com/ to get the bbcode using the Flickr app. Seems to have had mixed success!!

Anyone seeing an image in the above post? I can see it when I go to edit the post but get a red cross in the post itself.

One from Sunday and a stunning day above North Yorks. Whitby from 5000ft. Reflections from the window aren’t ideal but you get the idea.

A couple from last week. It's amazing how a bit of cloud can change the entire look of an image.

    Panamoz question?

All you need for a Panamoz warranty claim is your order number and a quote from a repairer that has the serial number of the camera/lens on it.

Cars that will have value in the future?

I bought a Ford Racing Puma 15 years ago for £9k and sold it a few years later for a small loss. The only one on AutoTrader at the moment is £16k. Only 500 were built and there can’t be too many left between them being written off and stripped for parts. It was massively impractical and...

When you say it was struggling to rattle off 4 FPS, what do you have a1 set to? If it’s anything other than ‘Release’ then you’re going to encounter delays as the camera is prioritising focus before allowing the shutter to be released. I’ve been using a D810 primarily for aviation for over 3...

    Nikon Service centre taking FOREVER.

Sent my D810 to Nikon for a repair, they took 4 weeks to replace the PCB and then sent it back faulty, had to send it back again and they replaced the AF module. Was without it for about 10 weeks in total. It’s not so much the time it takes for the repair that’s an issue for me, it’s the fact...

    Lens advice please 300mm+

To be fair, I moved from a 500 f4 so seeing a difference was inevitable.
