Choose ONE ND grad - which one?

Just an update to this in case it's of help to others. So as mentioned above I purchased the 'Revised Landscape Photography Colby Brown Signature kit' which arrived a week or so after Christmas. Unfortunately it was a few weeks before I got chance to use it properly but eventually I got chance...

    Vlog thread ?

Good idea, it will sort the wheat from the chaff. There's a few really good ones but lots of terrible ones as well.

Common mistakes for Beginner landscape photographers

I've just experienced light leaks today when using a 6-stop filter and with the sun behind me. It looks like a multicoloured vertical band in the pictures. Resolved by using the eyepiece cover. I also noticed that the metering was around 1 stop different (i.e. it metered for a shorter exposure)...

Photo sharing - Instagram vs Flickr

I forgot to mention that 500px allow you to sell your photos directly view their website and you get 60% of the cash. However they set the prices which are expensive (currently looks to be €129 for a 300dpi image suitable for printing but only €29 for a web-sized one). So good if you do 'stock'...

Photo sharing - Instagram vs Flickr

Instagram's max resolution is 1080x1080 so fine for viewing on a phone but not much else. Flickr is basically the full resolution that you upload (I believe they apply some kind of compression when displaying the images but you can't tell), and you can download in any size as well. If you want...

    Sigma 150-500 on Nikon D5300

Hi all Does anyone know if this combination will work? I'm selling my 150-500 and a potential buyer has asked if it will work. The lens works great on my D610 which is around the same vintage so I assume it should work fine, I'm interested if anyone has any experience with it. Cheers in advance

Choose ONE ND grad - which one?

Right, update - slight change of plan. I have just ordered from Hitech their 'Revised Landscape Photography Colby Brown Signature kit', which after the 20% discount and another 20% discount for this week, but plus VAT at 20% and delivery at £5, has cost me a grand total of £300.38. For that I...

Choose ONE ND grad - which one?

OK thanks guys. Seems like there's a shortage of the Lee medium grads at the moment, can't find any in stock at a reasonable price unless you go for the kit of 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 which is about 200 quid. I may have to wait until after christmas, I'm expecting some Amazon vouchers from my folks...

Choose ONE ND grad - which one?

Hi all So I think I've finally made up my mind and I'm going to buy a filter system (again, I had a cheapo one previously and got rid). Formatt Hitech have a 20% off offer on at the moment so you can get their new Firecrest 100mm system with the built-in polariser for just under £130 including...

    Samyang 14mm

I got one a few weeks ago for night photography but I've also used it a little for landscapes. The distortion doesn't matter unless you require a straight horizon. It is VERY sharp and nice and light. It's excellent for the sky as it has a hard stop for infinity so you don't even need to worry...
