which step up from a NIKON EM....?

I bought a restored Weston meter from this guy if your one ever needs a service. He fits new cells, repairs, recalibrates etc etc and knows his stuff: http://ian-partridge.com/westonrepair.html

    Nikon F6

Absolutely! All the gear and no idea ... is how I used to describe the syndrome. The picture is the thing, always, always. Can you see it? Can you get it? Can you bite someone with it? Will you do whatever it takes to get to where the pictures are hiding (and realise so when you're there)? Those...

    Beginner New to 35mm!

Good luck Andrew and hope you're enjoying your Pentax ME so far. I've read some good posts on your thread here. It's always inspiring here, reading what it is that makes people pick up a camera and take a picture. And, reading about what kind of photographer they are (trad/digital/hybrid ...

Lab for push processing C41 - Agfa Vista 200

I love the colours in these three shots. Amazed that AgfaVista (200 or 400?) went to 1600. I'll try that with one of the rolls I have here sometime soon.

Lab for push processing C41 - Agfa Vista 200

Thanks very much FishyFish – morning sunshine coming through a gap in my garden fence in the summer and backlighting a few leaves for me. It was like that for maybe 20 mins a day for a couple of weeks or so.

Lab for push processing C41 - Agfa Vista 200

Hi again, Filmdev are pretty friendly about film with flaws or errors in exposing etc. I can't recall exactly what they told me now but they'll be very fair with you if they develop a roll which turns out not to be worth scanning. They call beforehand anyway to talk through what you want. For...

Lab for push processing C41 - Agfa Vista 200

Hi, filmdev.co.uk developed a few batches of AgfaVista 200 for me and with no extra charge for pushing (800). Scans looked fine to me. I've posted about them before and I think a few of you may have tried them now. They're a friendly bunch. Essentially, wedding photographers who bought...

    Darkroom Books

That would be still good though I think, even if not much had changed in the new edition. It would be an indication that publishers still saw a market in film photography books and, with luck, seeing it out there would continue to inspire the next generation to stay involved with analog photography.

    Darkroom Books

Ah – just noticed you'd already mentioned this book, which I've just repeated below. I'd agree – it's a very interesting reference for reading what goes on during development, fixing etc. Good value for money too.

    Darkroom Books

These are interesting: The Film Developing Cookbook (Stephen Anchell/ Bill Troop, Routledge (2015) ISBN 978-0-240-80277-0 but not sure how much it's been updated since the Focal Press edn in 1998 as there are some references in it that seem to belong to the first edition) The Darkroom Cookbook...

    Film Developing in the UK

How did you get on with the FilmDev scans? Did they come out as you required? They still seem a very economic option for dev/scan, although I've not yet fully explored everyone else's posts and recommendations.

    Film Developing in the UK

Hi Chris, yes, they are happy to discuss anything concerning your processing and scans. I found them useful, I have to say. And, extremely enthusiastic. Wetransfer.com is just an FTP service anyone can use and for these purposes a free way to get your images back to you as instantly as they can...

    Film Developing in the UK

Have a look at a small, friendly firm here: www.filmdev.co.uk – good scans and economic too. They can be contacted by phone so you can explain the scan requirements you have. They are cheap and have been very quick (1-2 days service, images delivered via web for lower resolutions then followed...

whos best for MF developing and scanning?

Hi Chris, sorry to you too for the delayed reply. Yes, of course, I will add something in the film developing thread. See my answer to Carl above for the speed. It's a good service. And, best part perhaps, you can talk through what you need with them in advance. They're fast too – I have used...
