You sir, may have shaved off a few years towards shooting awesome photos for me (which may be decades away).
But still, thats some pretty solid advice.

That was great info. Yeah, I shot in raw. So I presume the only way to get the settings back (i.e. contrast, brightness) is to edit it in my software?
My best guess would be using increasing vibrance and reducing saturation.
Add grain, have a gaussian blur layer, add vignetting, and fiddle about with levels.
I'm tempted to say create a B&W layer over the original image, and increase opacity.
I took a photo using a custom setting on my D300, but when I used Adobe bridge to import it into my computer, it turns back into colour (and without the custom settings)
Any ideas on whats happening?
On the kitties, I'd brighten and cross-process and do up the eyes.
Then crop the window and the right side a little.
and do up the mat.
Ok, I'll stop now. might get carried away :)
