    Sony Alpha Recommendations

I'm mainly shooting for microstock, and many of the agencies have re-defined the meaning of the term "noise" (i.e they are overly fussy). No I have never updated the firmware, so I guess that would be a good start. I've signed up there and will ask. Live view output would be very helpful and...

    Sony Alpha Recommendations

I bought one of the first Sony A100's and have been pretty happy with it. I'm now thinking about upgrading to a newer model and am interested in hearing from existing owners (particularly 300 series owners) on their recommendations. My existing one doesn't output raw images (at least if it...

    Redsnapper Questions

One of the better buying decisions I made. I've had mine for some time now and it's great. After some deliberation I went for a pistol grip head and I don't regret that either. Great flexibility and manoeuvrability with the minimum of effort.

That's certainly the case if you want to sell the photo's on microstock sites.

How or where to share photos?

Google Web Picasa is also worth a look. You get 1GB of space. http://picasaweb.google.com/home Also if you're running Firefox you can use Piclens with it

Wanted to start up a website to display my work..

jsfoto.co.uk? The shorter the better in my experience (ignoring the one below of course). My business domain name is jkstudios.co.uk.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial...

Can I also suggest trying out Xara Xtreme for doing effects like that? You'll achieve the same results in a fraction of the time, including the photo borders and the drop shadow plus bevels and all if you want them. You can download the whole program on a 30 day trial at www.xara.com. There's...

    Business cards - worth it?

I agree. First impressions count. Even more so for a photographer. I binned the cards I got from Vistaprint.

Searching for a reasonably priced tripod

Yes that looks OK. Doesn't appear quite as well built as the Red Snapper one though. Also if you add a Slik trigger release ball joint it all comes to somewhere over £130. Whereas the RS package was £97.06 delivered. Time will tell I guess but I'm very happy right now.

Searching for a reasonably priced tripod

Just posted on another thread but just in case anyone is only following this one, I can report that I received the tripod and trigger attachment today and they seem to be really good value for the money. Also Joe was a nice chap and pleasant to deal with.

City Link + Knock on door = (56K no)

Just received mine today and it seems really nice. Looks very well built and I absolutely LOVE the trigger attachment. Well worth the money if first impressions are anything to go by. Thanks for all the help and photo's slim.

OK thanks I'll give it a whirl. I confess I didn't see that above because it wasn't a proper link. Actually I won't rule out glamour shots entirely as some of the micro sites take glamour and I know one guy who does quite well from it. Just have to see how the wife feels about having glamour...

Sending items as "Gifts" - USA to UK

Apart from having the sender declare the item as a gift (eBay sellers are normally happy to do this, retailers normally not), they could instead declare the value of the item as in the region of $35-40. As steep mentions above, anything with a value less than £18 is duty free as far as UK...

    Hiring A Model.advice Please

I'm actually looking for models for non-glamour photography. Most of the links above seem to be related to glamour. Anybody got any links for straight models?
