Yes, I think I am going to have to move it back and feather it more to be happy with the results. Next purchase is an octabox but maybe not as big. Think I probably can get away with a 90cm one for single person portrait shoots.

Hmm, I was watching one of Scott Kirby's lighting videos and he was raving about large softboxes and their versatility which is why I bought one. Seems rather self-defeating if I mask it off. I already have a couple of smaller square softboxes.

ah, I see why you mocked me now. Fair enough. I have always known them as strobes and will always call them by that colloquialism. Each to their own. :-)

Did I say something stupid? I realise that my 550s and any studio flash are both strobes.

Prefer to use strobes so I can model the light. Got my 550's if I need them, maybe I can get away with just buying another one so that I have three of them instead?
